Poor little mummy. As if being dead isn't bad enough.
I know. My posting is down. Life is in the way and I need to do some full-color work soon or I will pop. I feel like this Geekzilla guy right now. Arrrrrgh!

I can't believe how much enthusiastic feedback I've been getting on my moleskin sketches since I started posting them. I was contacted a couple of months back by Encore Magazine and they wanted to run a feature of my mad little doodles in issue #36. Encore is a multi-award winning German online art, design, and film magazine. It's a great read even without my art. Haaaha. And the subscription is free. You can find me on the contents page under art, titled Moleskin. Enjoy!
Note: I did the above montage of various moleskin pages and think I might be on to another technique/look. It's funny how every new thing I try ends up a happy surprise that sends me down a fresh new path.

This sign cracked me up. It took me a minute to figure out what seemed like a random order. Marine Park used to have free parking. Ahhh...progress.

I never know what to name my moleskin pages with all the stuff going on. I usually just go with the most prominent thing on the page. How sensible of me.

The need for money is what is keeping me and many other illustrators locked in our full-time jobs. Kinda makes for this love/hate relationship with that dirty green stuff.
I did an original doodle for a friend, but scanned it before I gave it away. Then I just had to see this thing in color.

Is there anything happier than a kid at the beach? That is how I felt when I went to Ocean City yesterday on a perfect September day.
Whatever came to my mind, landed on the page.

Some moleskin fun from my slightly warped mind.

Here's a character I've been messing with. It's actually 2 characters. They are forced to get along in a codependent situation somewhere in the future.

This illustration is of my Kit Cat Clock hanging in my studio. My grandmother had one of these when I was growing up and I remember being hypnotised by those roving eyes. So since I am so into time and clocks, I just had to have one. It was only a matter of time before I drew it.

What can say summer more than a hot dog on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore? Maybe two hot dogs?

I promised I would post the most completed version of this doodle to date. And here it is. Who says Jimmy can't keep his word? For detailed views of this, head over to my new site and click on sketchbook 1 and start with image 5.

This is a crop from a recent sketch/illustration. It kinda says emergency to me. But hey. What do I know. I only drew the thing. Notice how some don't sense the urgency as they sit around eating blue cheese with tea. Actually, blue cheese IS an emergency if it ends up in my mouth. An instant eject system was installed in my head for terrible things like blue cheese and the like. I know, I spelled blue cheese wrong. I just don't respect the stuff enough to care.

I finally got my site up and running. Many things tried to get in the way, so it took way longer than I had hoped. Please let me know if there are any problems with links or whatever. Check it out! jbradshaw.net

I have seen illustrators using old books as sketchbooks. Just paint over the pages and let some print show through for texture. This is a way for me to loosen up and get off the computer. Just push paint and stuff around. I sucked my whole family into this and we had a big fun mess on Satruday. I banged out 4 pages and it was freeing.
