An Orange Is Always Good In A Pinch
SOLD
I love Mexican and South American culture. The colors and patterns blow me away. I was on a Mexican folk art site and got all reinspired. This is the result. I had an old desk from my mother's childhood that was falling apart and so before throwing it out, I kept the drawers and put them in my "gotta paint on that" someday pile. It's been over a year and this skull guy seemed perfect for the distressed wood drawer. Now I want to do more of these.

HA! this is so cool, Jim! i love the expression and the cool patterns on his face. i like how you used the old desk, too. nice textures & swirls.
Your illustration is excellent
maura - thanks. this was definitely a fun thing to work on. I have to get away from the computer every once and awhile and make something I can hold in my hands. But I do love the computer.
don - thanks for your fine compliment
Amazing. AMAZING! This needs to be hanging in a gallery. Or better yet, in my house. Thanks for the zap of inspiration. I needed that.
Ahahaha... I love it. Some of your works are simply amazing. I do like pizza a lot.
So, you draw on a Moleskine?
Bryan - always great to hear from you my friend. It's funny you should mention gallery. That is exactly one of my desires for 2008. I have never been part of that scene but want in big time. This piece is a first effort toward that goal.
Jan - thanks for your words and YES, I love my moleskine and you know what I think about pizza. ;)
haha! as if the juggling skulls weren't humorous enough- you go an throw in the random orange. genius!
Hey Mike, thanks my friend. The original sketch had all skulls but my brain kept telling me to push it to another level. I'm glad you appreciate my intellectual prowess. Now I must be off to take over the world.
brilliant my boy, brilliant
Very cool. I love that stuff. So much, I am getting a day of the dead skull tattooed on the top of my hand! Not as funny as yours though!
You are a gift from God, Jim Bradshaw. Excellent work.
ellis - I strive for brilliancy, but it blows me away when someone thinks it of my stuff.
pocza - thanks man. If you ever want to go the funny tat route, I'm here for you.
joe - wow! I'm stoked by your stokedness. ;)
Ahhh! This is so amazing!! I LOVE it!! (Like most of your work, obviously)!!
(And I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with a "gotta paint on that" pile!) heehee! ^^;
Lots of fun! The pattern around the edge gives it a nice, subte ambience. Very judicious use of color! I like it. The orange plays off the blue nicely!
j a n i e - thanks. Get that pile going girl!
andy - thanks, I'm glad you like
Jim, you crazy bastard! This is amazing! Everything from the actual subject to the execution of it is wonderful. I agree with the others and think this and many more of your work needs to be in a gallery show. Man, I really love this one!
adam - thanks for those massively encouraging words (except for the part about being a bastard). ;)
Yeah, I am longing for the gallery scene. I have to be patient and let it happen when I can. I am going to try to do original pieces between assignments and life. Sooooo much going on!
Very beautiful illustration, I like especially the hues of your grey :o)
